Vancouver Design Week 2018

On May 13th we had the pleasure of hosting a special open house event for Vancouver Design Week 2018! In line with this year's theme of IMPACT, we placed a spotlight on the process of luxury #wood manufacturing and the impact of these products on #design and the #environment. We had an amazing time and are looking forward to VDW 2019!

PROTOTYPE FLOATING TREADS

When it comes to wood applications, there's nothing as beautiful as a well crafted set of stairs! Here are some prototype examples of floating treads. These would look so nice against glass siding or just on their own! This particular example was made using a pre-finished floor and highlights an advanced mitre process with polyurethane seaming that would be suitable for residential applications. For high traffic spaces an integrated solid nosing component on the edges would be a good idea. Featured here is Deep Down Taupe and Gris Charmant by Woodlife!

New Armoury Showroom Now Open!!

After five fabulous years in Mount Pleasant we moved our showroom to our new home in the Armoury District of Vancouver! We love our new neighbourhood and are so excited to be a part of this growing architecture and design community. It's such a treat taking Alfie for a walk every day around the seawall and Granville Island!

The inspiration for our new showroom came from the boutique parquet shops of Europe - simple, sophisticated, and functional! Bursting with product options and samples ready to go!

Here are some behind the scene snapshots from our showroom renos! If you're in the neighbourhood come in and say hi!

LEVELLING | FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS

We are usually drawn to the beauty and aesthetic of a floor but the reality is, true enjoyment of a floor comes from how well it performs. To this extent, a properly levelled substrate is the best indicator of the sustainability and survival of your flooring investment.

To set yourself up for success, ensure that your substrate is clean, dry, sound, & flat. Doing so will ensure your flooring boards will have the right foundation to stay aligned and together.

Many flooring manufacturers also specify moisture and levelling expectations that must be met in order for warranties to be valid. Doing your homework and taking the proper due diligence with the installation of your floor will help you avoid heart ache and unforeseen expenses.

Here are some additional resources that may prove useful as you move forward on your flooring journey.
